Born in Belgium, raised in Kolwezi, DR Congo. After losing his father following high school, an American woman and her family funded his studies in Zimbabwe and later in the United States. That act of generosity is the philosophy behind EMLink. From Sioux Falls, he co-builds EMLink convinced that the same opportunity must be available to every Congolese student.

Jean Gilbert built his technical expertise inside the DR Congo — a system with almost no formal infrastructure — which is precisely what makes him exceptional. He leads all platform architecture from Kinshasa, with direct relationships with the schools and students EMLink was built to serve.
